First Friday at Tennyson Studios – May 2012

A lot of excitement once again this month at Tennyson Studios and all of Tennyson Street for the First Friday Art Walk.  The night kicks off at 5:15pm for the dedication of the Streetscape Project as well as the public art which has been installed at 41st and Tennyson.

At Tennyson Studios gallery nrc is hosting Scene While Driving.  Two photographers explore the landscape they encounter from moving vehicles in two totally different styles. Michael Calanan captures the unique moment and the story of Denver’s neighborhoods, while Andrew Pogue shows the motion giving an abstract sense of place in his images, letting you create your own story.  The photographers will be on hand.

R2 Gallery and Studio had a great show in April with artists Tonia Zambrano & Berit Naeseth, they will be carried over at the gallery for another month.  This is in addition to the artwork from Ryan Rice.  If you have not seen this work, you will want to be sure to stop by at this extended opportunity.

Contemporary Landscape Painter Kelly Schurger has been busy painting for the upcoming art festivals she will be taking part in this summer.  Stop on by to see some of the new work she has created.

Additionally, the Nature Photography Gallery and Kirk Norlin will be showing some of their latest work as well.  We look forward to seeing you at Tennyson Studios on Friday May 4th from 6:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M.

gallery nrc: Scene While Driving

Denver Photography Gallery - Scene While Driving

This month at gallery nrc, two photographers explore the landscape they encounter from moving vehicles in two totally different styles. Michael Calanan captures the unique moment and the story of Denver’s neighborhoods, while Andrew Pogue shows the motion giving an abstract sense of place in his images, letting you create your own story. When traveling by car most people think about what they are passing, and these two photographers take that feeling in the familiar area of Colorado.

Michael and Andrew are commercial photographers living in Denver, Colorado who found their personal work is complimentary to each other. Michael is an editorial photographer with specialties in portraiture and live music/event photography. He is also the Vice President of the Colorado Chapter of ASMP. Andrew is an architectural photographer and has recently relocated to the Denver area from Austin, Texas. His background in architecture and visual studies gives his work proclivity from an invaluable perspective.

Join the photographers on Friday May 4th at gallery nrc and talk to them in more detail about their work and vision for their collection of images in Scene While Driving. The gallery will be open May 4th from 6:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M. as part of the First Friday Art Walk on Tennyson Street.

The show runs through May 19, 2012.

There is also lots going on at R2 Gallery. Ryan Rice will be showcasing a new pun painting along with some of his most recent work. Additionally, there are two new artists joining Ryan in the gallery that will bring some excitement: Tonia Zambrano (oil painter/giclees) and Berit Naeseth (mixed media wall based sculptures and sculptural drawings).

You will also want to check out the art at the other galleries within Tennyson Studios this First Friday to see some great new work by those artists as well.
